Part 4 – Risks

Any time a transaction is conducted over the internet there is an inherent risk that someone may gain access to your information. However, because gaining the trust of their clients is of such critical importance, casinos maintain a very strong level of security when dealing with your personal data. Any competent gaming site knows that they would quickly be out of business if any of their clients’ data was ever leaked.

Another important risk to be aware of when gambling online is the fairness of a casino’s software. Is it possible that games are rigged to give the house a higher advantage? Though the answer is “yes,” several individuals and companies have meticulously studied the outcomes of casino games to determine if they are truly random. While most softwares are considered fair, a small minority of casinos have been found to produce outcomes that are highly suspicious, at best. Due to the zero tolerance policy of CasinoPotato, any casino using software considered rigged is immediately moved to the Thieves section until they can prove otherwise.

Well then, assuming your information is secure and the casino software is fair, what else are you risking?

Cashing out, as detailed in Part 20, is a crucial part of the online gambling process. Whenever you deposit money at a casino, there is a risk that you will not be paid if you win. Before you play, please refer to Part 20 for a detailed description of the withdrawal process. The simplest technique to greatly reduce (and even eliminate) this risk is to only play at casinos with high ratings. Steer clear of casinos with poor ratings if you wish to avoid payout problems.

In summary, because of the risks posed by online gambling, we strongly recommend that you play at casinos with high potato-ratings. Feel free to play at lower-rated casinos, but please be aware of the higher risks you are taking. We strongly recommend that you do not, under any circumstances, play at a casino that is listed in the Thieves category.
